Korean singer-songwriter IU has been confirmed to play the lead in “Moon Lovers”, the Korean adaptation of the hit mainland time-travel drama, “Bu Bu Jingxin”.

As reported on Mingpao News, the baby-faced star will be paired up with actor Lee Jun-ki, who will play the role of Wang So, the fourth son of Taejo Wang Gun of Goryeo Dynasty, similar to the original role of Yinzhen, the fourth prince of Emperor Kangxi played by Nicky Wu.

Her role in the original was played by Chinese actress Cecilia Liu.
Other cast members include Hong Jong-hyun, Nam Joo-hyuk, and Kang Ha-neul, the latter to play the role of the second lead, originally played by Kevin Cheng in the mainland version.
“Moon Lovers” tells the story of a modern woman who finds herself in a love triangle and the political struggle between two princes as she accidentally travelled into the past.
The original mainland drama was a huge hit when it aired back in 2011, which resulted in a sequel, “Bu Bu Jing Qing”, as well as a movie version and a stage play.
The Korean remake will begin filming this 20 January.
