More shopping malls are set to open in Malaysia in 2016, even though some of the malls mentioned in our 2015 Shopping Mall list are still yet to open its doors!
Nevertheless, as Malaysians we can’t help but to get super excited to know that more shopping malls are coming our way, also hoping that some of the tenants are new ones housed in malls that are closer and more accessible from our homes!
However, with Putrajaya IOI City Mall, Atria Shopping Gallery and Gamuda Walk in Shah Alam open for business, we wonder if there’s still any space left in the Klang Valley to fit these six upcoming shopping malls in 2016!
1. CentralPlaza@i-City (i-City Mall)

Thailand’s largest retail developer Central Pattana (CPN) is opening its first overseas regional mall called CentralPlaza under a joint venture with i-Berhad. Marking its first step into the ASEAN market, CentralPlaza is expected to be opened in next year, offering 450 retail outlets ranging from fashion hubs to F&B outlets and service facilities. The 6-storey mall is located in Section 7, Shah Alam, just 22km away from Kuala Lumpur.
2. Tropicana Gardens

Developed by Dijaya Corporation under Tropicana Indah Sdn Bhd, Tropicana Gardens is another up and coming mall that is going to be the trendsetter and future hotspot for the folks in Kota Damansara. Located along Persiaran Surian, the 5-storey mall is easily accessible via the Damansara-Puchong Expressway, Sprint Highway, New Klang Valley Expressway and Penchala Link. The mall is also completed with serviced residences, hotels and offices, and is directly connected to the MRT station.
3. Sunway Geo

As part of the Sunway Group, Sunway Geo is located within an integrated development at Bandar Sunway, next to Malaysia’s 1st Elevated Bus Rapid Transit. Following the soon to be opening Sunway Nexis and Sunway Velocity, Sunway Geo is a brand new integrated development comprising of retail shops, flexi suites and residences.
4. The Starling @ Damansara Uptown

A 5-storey neighbourhood mall called The Starling will soon open in Uptown Damansara along with a 38-storey office building; a serviced residence, and the Uptown Residences condominium. Set to provide another holistic and vibrant shopping experience, The Starling will unfold a whole new world of exciting retail mix, a varied selection of dining offerings and greater leisure activities.
5. Glo Damansara

A premier lifestyle and neighbourhood mall which sets to fulfil the needs of the entire family and the professionals that works in the offices around the area. The 6-storey mall has over 200 units of retail lots including a 4-storey carpark with approximately 800 parking bays. Situated conveniently in the Damansara neighbourhood and nearby the prestigious Taman Tun Dr. Ismail, Glo Damansara is also located next a 365-unit serviced apartment.
6. MyTOWN Shopping Centre

Jointly developed and owned by Boustead Holdings Berhad & Ikano Pte. Ltd, MyTOWN is a new family and lifestyle shopping centre in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, and is home to the largest IKEA in Malaysia. Expected to be open in the second half of 2016, the 5-floor shopping centre is located in a strategic location on Jalan Cochrane, which is about 3 km southeast of Kuala Lumpur.
