Although Ruco Chan has already won TV King twice at the Singapore Starhub TVB Awards and TVB Star Awards Malaysia, he lost a similar title in his own homeland to movie star Anthony Wong.

The 2015 TVB Anniversary Awards held on 13 December witnessed several differences in the winners than the two previous awards, according to HK Channel News. Aside from Ruco, Tracy Chu, who won Most Improved Artiste at both StarHub and TVB Star Awards, lost to Grace Chan at the event held yesterday.

And while “Captain of Destiny” actors won both awards, it was “Lord of Shanghai” that was named TVB Anniversary Awards’ Best Drama.
Anthony, who previously stated that he will not cherish a TV King award as much as a TVB resident artiste, expressed his gratitude for the award, saying, “Rumour said that I would throw away the trophy, but all my award trophies are still at my house. I am very happy to win this and will cherish it.”
The actor also used the opportunity on stage to talk about the controversial auction of the late Anita Mui’s belongings.
“I hope all the artistes and actors will respect every trophy. These are not just our hard work, but also represent the work of others. We should all cherish it.”
Meanwhile, Ruco, who won Most Popular TV Male Character instead of the coveted title, expressed his happiness at winning his very first TVB award, and thanked his father for being a strict but supportive role model in his life.
