More new TV programs will soon make their debut this November!
From Marvel superheroine “Jessica Jones” to the martial arts series “Into the Badlands”, to the sitcom “Angel from Hell” and to the drama “Chicago Fire” spin-off “Chicago Med” – there are tons of new TV series this month that you wouldn’t want to miss!
A self-proclaimed angel named Amy acts as a guardian for a woman named Allison who is multi-tasked perfectionist dermatologist. Although Allison finds Amy to be crazy, she starts to have second thoughts when Amy’s crazy predictions turn out to be true.
Anyone who has watched “Glee” knows how headstrong Jane Lynch’s portrayal of Sue Sylvester truly was. Expect the same kind of no-nonsense hilarity from Lynch as she plays an angel who doesn’t give a rats a** that God is watching as long as her bossy demeanour gets her guardian angel duties in order.
Cast: Jane Lynch, Maggie Lawson, Kyle Bornheimer, Kevin Pollak
The Vice President of the United States, Natalie Maccabee discovers that there is a top secret agent who handles sensitive cases that even the CIA and the FBI cannot manage, and is the savior who helps protect the country in times of crisis.
With political thrillers like “House of Cards”, “Scandal”, “Homeland” and “The Blacklist” drawing in a new kind of TV crowd, Sharon Stone’s return to our screens only further strengthens the lineup of leading strong women on TV which is very much the appeal these days. And if you remember Stone in “Basic Instinct” you know that she’s very much capable in playing suspense-lined mind games.
Cast: Jeff Hephner, Sharon Stone, John Shea, Gerald McRaney, James Earl Jones
The British series follows Inspector John Marlott who has been recruited by Sir Robert Peel to investigate a series of crimes in 19th Century London, which may have been committed by a scientist intent on re-animating the dead.
So what happened to Sean Bean after his untimely “Game of Thrones” death? Well we know he was last seen in the Ridley Scott movie, “The Martian”, but he has also been quietly filming this TV series in North Ireland. We just hope that no ill-fate will befall Bean in this six part series or else there might not be a continuation for season two.
Cast: Sean Bean, Anna Maxwell Martin, Vanessa Kirby, Steven Berkoff, Deirdre Mullins
Loosely based on the classic Chinese tale “Journey to the West”, the martial arts adventure series tells the story about a warrior and a young boy who journey together through a dangerous feudal land controlled by feudal barons in search for enlightenment.
What’s interesting about this American series from AMC (“Mad Men”) is that it’s actually headed by Asians. Stephen Fung (of the “Tai Chi” series) is the show’s fight director bringing Hong Kong style action sequences that’s very Tarantino gory style, while Daniel Wu is no stranger to martial arts too, having starred in “The Man with the Iron Fists”, “Tai Chi 0”, “Tai Chi Hero” among others. The series will be premiering on AMC, ABNxcess, Channel 351 at 11am with a repeat on 10pm.
Cast: Daniel Wu, Aramis Knight, Emily Beecham, Sarah Bolger, Oliver Stark, Orla Brady
A spin-off from “Chicago Fire”, following the city’s most explosive hospital and the courageous team of doctors who try to hold everything together as they face the emotional and thrilling ride through the day-to-day chaos in Chicago.
This show couldn’t be more perfectly timed. As “Grey’s Anatomy” is finally losing its audience and nearing its end, in comes “Chicago Med” bringing in the same kind of drama and thrills like “Chicago Fire”, as each episode deals with a new medical dilemma not forgetting the personal dilemma’s faced by the characters as well.
Cast: Oliver Platt, S. Epatha Merkerson, Nick Gehlfuss, Yaya DaCosta, Colin Donnell, Torrey DeVitto, Brian Tee, Rachel DiPillo
Comedic actor Aziz Ansari plays a 30-year-old actor in New York who has to deal with his mid-life crisis as he navigates his way through his love life and career.
This sort of reminds us of the “The Mindy Project” and it’s about time that Ansari has got his own show. I mean, the dude’s stand-up comedy is really hilarious and if you’ve seen him in “Parks and Recreation” then you know you really have to watch this series and #TreatYoSelf. Bonus: Ansari’s real parents also play his on-screen parents and the voice actor for “Archer” and “Bob’s Burgers”, H. Jon Benjamin also has a role in the series, so if you hear a familiar voice, you won’t have to guess who that familiar voice belongs to.
Cast: Aziz Ansari, H. Jon Benjamin, Eric Wareheim
Based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, the series revolves around a former super-heroine who opens her own detective agency and tries to rebuild her life as a private investigator by dealing with mysterious cases involving people with remarkable abilities in New York City.
Why we really can’t wait for this is because Netflix’s last Marvel series, “Daredevil” was done so well and we know we can expect the same with “Jessica Jones”. After all, “Jessica Jones” and “Daredevil” are sort of connected to each other (expect some cameos) and with two more upcoming Marvel series on Netflix, all of them are set to join forces for the upcoming miniseries, “The Defenders” which is another superhero ensemble like “The Avengers”.
Cast: Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter, Rachael Taylor, Carrie-Anne Moss, David Tenant
