After much anticipation, it was revealed that Stephen Fung’s first American TV series, “Into the Badlands”, has been picked up by AMC to premiere on 15 November.

As reported on HK Channel, the series, which stars good friend and co-producer Daniel Wu in the lead role, is a modern take on the famous Chinese mythology, “Journey to the West”.

In it, the actor plays the role of Sunny, a great warrior who embarks on a journey across a dangerous land to find enlightenment, accompanied by a young boy. It co-stars Aramis Knight, Emily Beecham, and Sarah Bolger among others.
“I was at the San Diego Comic Convention a few months ago, and the responses were pretty good,” said Stephen, who will focus on promoting the show at comic conventions. “I realised that people who attend these conventions are generally part of our target group.”
Meanwhile, the production has also hired Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda to compose the series’ theme song.
Stephen admitted that he was very excited about the theme song, since he was a big fan of the band.
