Jackie Chan hopes people will recognise the hardships of an action star through the establishment of Jackie Chan International Action Movie Week.

Speaking at the opening forum held at the Shanghai International Film Festival recently, the action star stated that actors in action films often get badly injured while filming, though people rarely knew about it.

“I hope this event will let people know the silent contribution of the heroes behind the scenes,” he said.
He also shared his experiences of getting numerous injuries throughout his career of filming action movies.
“I would feel the pain all over my body when I get out of bed. Once, I even went to the hospital and asked the doctor to operate on me. I went in like a hero, but came out with my head down because I screamed as soon as I saw a needle,” he joked.
Chinese martial arts actor Wu Jing, Dreamworks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg, and Hollywood action director Rob Cohen also attended the forum.
