At first, Fikcles (no, that’s not a typo) may seem like any other ordinary café that you can find around the Taman Tun neighbourhood – well, it actually is, but yet it is not, as the food they serve is fairly delectable and tantalising.

Launched in May of last year, the café first materialised as a dream between two school friends who followed their heart. Now, it is a comfy and cosy home for many of its regular customers.

With its creative and unique interior design, the café which has a weird way of spelling its name, aims to be the ‘third place’ for its customers (the first being home and the second either school or work place).

Currently owned by four owners, according to the one of the café founders, the misspelling of the name is intentional as it is part of an online search engine strategy. However, it is also because they feel the simple and catchy name suits ‘fickle-minded people like them’.

The café wishes to create a comfortable environment for all of its customers and satiate their appetite. With the soothing music and relaxing ambience, customers will be able to escape from their everyday tiring work environment and chill at Fikcles.

What makes the café unique is its western fusion cuisines which have some Asian flair that suits the local palate and comes at very reasonable price.

Take a look at their specialty – Salted Egg Squid Wrap (RM19.90), which is a combination of Chinese and Mexican cuisine that comes in a relatively generous portion along with thick fries in cheesy sauce and a fresh bowl of salad.

The batter-coated squid is nicely fried making it not too chewy and the salted egg sauce leaves a lingering taste in your mouth which will make you want for more!

Another specialty of Fikcles is its local favourite from Johor, the Lontong Goreng (RM13.90).

Because two of the café founders hail from Johor, it makes it a must for them to include a Johorean dish in the menu, furthermore, they say the Lontong Goreng is one of the best-selling dishes in the café.

Following the theme, another distinctive feature of the café is its lunch sets which are different each day!

The lunch sets which usually come in two choices; one local dish and one western dish – are never the same and changed daily.

The founder also noted that they rarely repeat the same lunch set and even if they do, it will probably be after two or three months have passed.

Moreover, not only does the lunch set come at a reasonable price of RM12.90, it also comes with a mini dessert of choice between a brownie or ice-cream.

The Fikcles team will update their lunch sets daily on their IG, but if you’re in for a surprise just drop by the café during lunch and see what they have for you.

Speaking of dessert, Fikcles’ Red Velvet cake is an absolute must-try! The smooth texture of the cake which melts in your mouth upon every single bite as well as the right amount of sweetness will provide you with a delightful sensation that makes you crave for more.

Also, let’s not forget about the drinks in the café. The drinks that we would want to recommend the most are definitely the chocolate drinks – regardless if it’s hot or cold.

The hot chocolate (RM12.00) comes with nicely toasted marshmallows while the iced chocolate (RM13.00) comes with a layer of chocolate sprinkle on top.

For the coffee lovers, you might want to try out Fikcles’ Flat White (RM10.00) which is rich in taste and addictive. We can assure you that the coffee is an absolute delight as the person in charge of it comes from a background of F&B, specialising in coffee making.

Recently, the Fikcles team was spotted at the Malaysia Food Fiesta and we found out that the café is actually trying to expand and diversify its business by going into retail.

The café also has an objective of turning Fikcles into a known brand through their bottled drinks and they hope that in the next one or two years, their bottled drinks will be sold in hypermarkets and supermarkets nationwide.
