Electronic Dance Music artiste David Guetta has been tapped to work on the official theme song for the UEFA Euro 2016 football tournament!
The “Titanium” star confirmed this via Twitter and says that he will also be performing for the opening ceremony in France on June of next year.
The Frenchman will not only be a performer of the event, but NME.com says that he would be involved in most musical aspects which includes scoring for the in-stadia audio before the matches to the global broadcast sequences.
“We wanted to work with David Guetta because he has proven throughout his career that he can create music which inspires people all around the world,” said UEFA President Michel Platini.
On the eve of the tournament, Guetta would also be performing a free concert on 9 June 2016 at Champ Mars, Paris.
Although Guetta seems to be a good choice for the global event, we think fellow countrymen Daft Punk might have been a better choice with their heavy but fast synth-pop beats. What do you think?
Psst! Check out Guetta’s latest “Mad Max” inspired music video for his single “Hey Mama” featuring Nicki Minaj, Bebe Rexha & Afrojack.
