Bus commuters in Klang Valley will be pleased to know that there will be Rapid KL double-decker buses soon, so this means no more squeezing and seat-snatching in the bus!
Prasarana Malaysia Bhd will be rolling out 40 double-decker buses which are expected to hit the road this September, according to Malaysian Insider.
Prasarana group managing director Azmi Abdul Aziz said that they are still studying suitable routes for the double-decker buses which will be announced to the public soon.
“The fare is regulated and the double-decker buses can lower the operating cost, because it can ferry more people. A single-deck bus can carry up to 70 passengers, but the double-decker can take up to 108 passengers,” Azmi added.
Apart from the 40 double-decker buses, there will also be an additional 80 single-deck buses.
In other Rapid KL related news, Prasarana will also be launching Rapid Point – a makeshift mobile bus stop which is complete with air-condition, WiFi, cafe and toilet.
So, instead of waiting under the hot sun, commuters will be able to enjoy the convenience provided by the Rapid Point while waiting for their bus.
Azmi also said that they would roll-out a total of 20 Rapid Point buses around KL city centre, after they have identified suitable locations for the buses.
