Foodies in Malaysia will get a chance to feast from over 60 food counters serving up the best of what Malaysia has got to offer at the inaugural KL Big Kitchen Festival 2015 which is happening this weekend!
Presented by Kuala Lumpur City Hall in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism & Culture, the three-day food fiesta will showcase the diversity of local and international cuisines that can be found in Kuala Lumpur.
Curated by the UK Award Winning Chef and recently appointed Kuala Lumpur Food Ambassador, Chef Norman Musa, the gastronomic event will take place at Dataran Merdeka from 29 to 31 May 2015, from 4pm to 11pm on 29 May (Friday) and 10am to 11pm on 30 and 31 May (Saturday and Sunday).

“Kuala Lumpur already has a vibrant and diverse food and cultural scene, and this festival epitomises what the city has to offer to visitors,” said Datuk Seri Ahmad Phesal Bin Hj. Talib, Mayor of Kuala Lumpur, as quoted by Select Traveller magazine.
“Featuring chefs from Malaysia and overseas, the festival is very much in line with our tourism master plan to develop Kuala Lumpur into a top gastronomic destination in the region,” he added.
KL Big Kitchen Festival will have celebrity gastronomic personalities and chefs demonstrating their skilful culinary techniques in preparing the freshest and finest dishes which would include traditional, international as well as fusion cuisines in the festival’s live cooking workshops.
Apart from that, there will also be cultural dance and musical performances by some familiar faces from the local music scene such as Aweera, Dafi, Najwa Latif, Fredo, Sasi The Don, Winnie Kok, Zainal Abidin and others.
Visitors will get to taste, buy and learn how the variety of herbs and spices available in Malay, Chinese and Indian cultures, are used to create delicious dishes.
The food festival will also feature a number of fun talks, activities and games including the KL Signature Dish Competition, the KL Signature Mocktail Competition and the KL Big Kitchen Race.
The winners of the KL Signature Dish and KL Signature Mocktail Drink will have their creations recognised as the official dish and drink of KL city.

They will each received a trophy from the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur together with sponsored gifts, and will also have the honour of being recognised as the creators of the newest icons of Kuala Lumpur.
