The 26th Golden Melody Awards recently announced this year’s nomination. And although Jolin Tsai is leading the nominations, the pop diva herself missed out on the Best Mandarin Female Singer category.

As reported on Mingpao News, the Taiwanese pop star, who released her album “Play” last year, received nine nominations in the list that was revealed on 18 May, including two nominations in Best Music Video, as well as Best Song of the Year and Best Mandarin Album.

Despite not being nominated for Best Female Singer, Jolin said that she is still happy for the other nominations, as they are categories that honour team efforts.
“The whole team is happy. Not being nominated as Best Female Singer doesn’t give me any regret. It only fuels my passion to do better,” said the singer.
Singers who will be competing for the Best Female Singer are A-Mei, Lala Hsu, Waa Wei, A-Lin, and Karen Mok.
The 26th Golden Melody Awards will be held on 27 June at the Taipei Arena.
