The Queen of Taiwanese music, Jody Chiang, has recently been awarded with the Golden Melody Awards’ Lifetime Contribution Award for her achievement in music.

As reported on Focus Taiwan, the singer, who announced her retirement back in January this year, received the award alongside composer Chen Yang. This is the first time GMA awarded two recipients at the same time.

In a statement released by the Ministry of Culture’s Bureau of Audiovisual and Music Industry Development, the 53-year-old singer was awarded for her unique works that not only touched people’s heart, but also promoted Taiwan’s culture as she often infused pop music elements into traditional Taiwanese language songs.
Jody has released nearly 60 albums before announcing her retirement recently. She was also a regular at the Golden Melody Awards, having won Best Female Singer numerous times.
She later announced her withdrawal from the category so that other singers will have a chance to win.
