The late Queen of Tejano music, Selena, will come back to life as a hologram in 2018 according to an official announcement by San Diego-based Acrovirt, LLC and Selena’s family on the singer’s official Facebook page.
The hologram is named as “Selena The One”, and is said to be the “walking, talking, singing, and dancing, digital embodiment of the iconic singer.”
According to the statement, Acrovirt will collaborate with Selena’s immediate family to make this project a reality.
“Selena is a Latin American icon who was taken before her time. Acrovirt and the Quintanilla family are excited to announce that Selena will continue to share her creative talents with the world in a new innovative way,” said Terry Kennedy, Co-founder, Acrovirt.
It is also said that “Selena The One” hologram will be releasing new songs and videos for her tour in 2018 where she will collaborate with current popular artistes.

An official site named SelenaTheOne.com has already been launched stating that an IndieGoGo campaign will go live on 16 April with an aim to raise USD500,000.
However many fans of Selena have mixed feelings regarding the hologram saying that it is “weird and creepy”, but Selena’s sister Suzette Quintanilla was quoted on Billboard saying:
“By no means is this something that’s creepy or weird, a lot of the new fans that did not get to experience what Selena was about, hopefully, will be able to get a sense of her with this new technology that’s going to be coming out.”
“It’s not about replacing Selena in any shape, way or form, it’s just something to help her legacy to continue growing,” she added.
In 1995, Selena Quintanilla was shot and killed at the age of 23 by Yolanda Saldívar, her friend and President of her former fan club.
In 1997, a film entitled “Selena” by Warner Bros was released, chronicling the singer’s life and career which starred Latina singer Jennifer Lopez.
