Malaysian queen of rock, Ella will soon star in the local musical comedy “Rock Bro”, the sequel of “Rock” and “Rock Ooo”, directed by Mamat Khalid.
According to the director, the new film will be about the development of the local rock scene in the 80s as well as the personal lives of Rimba Bara’s members.
“This time, we will delve into the personal lives of each individual from “Rock” which will include their struggles in the rock music industry,” he said.
“Then we move on to the year 1992 and 1993 where the rock genre has declined due to the existence of new music genres like rap in our country,” he added as quoted by Sinar Harian.
The film will have the original cast from the first two films such as Khir Rahman, Pekin Ibrahim, Sofi Jikan and Azmi Black, along with the latest cast addition Ella, an actual rock star.
“It’ll be even more interesting if we can include a female rock singer in the film. Ella will have a special appearance in the film as Amy Juliet,” said director Mamat Khalid. “We want to show that in the past, the local rock industry does have female rock stars too.”
Mamat Khalid revealed that the film is expected to be released in early 2016.
