EXO, who marked its Spotify debut with latest album “Exodus”, broke the record with almost 500,000 streams on its debut day.
It was recently revealed by Spotify that Chinese-South Korean idol group EXO has broken the record of highest debut day streams of an album from an Asian artist globally.
Singapore ranks fifth in the ten most popular markets the album has been streamed from, alongside the likes of US, Canada, Hong Kong, Brazil, Philippines and neighbouring country Malaysia.
“We would like to congratulate EXO on reaching this huge milestone,” said Chee Meng Tan, Label Relations Director, Spotify Asia in a press release. “We are looking forward to working with many more Asian artists to showcase their talent on the global stage.”
The record was previously held by Taiwanese star Jay Chou with his “Aiyo, Not Bad” album release back in December 2014.
