Rumours are rife that Jeffrey Lau, the director of 1994’s “A Chinese Odyssey Part 1: Pandora Box” and “A Chinese Odyssey Part II: Cinderella”, is planning to direct the final chapter of the film series.

As reported on Oriental Daily News, a mainland tabloid reported that the upcoming film will star original cast member Karen Mok, as well as new cast members such as Han Geng, Lin Chiling, William Chan, and Twins.

However, Stephen Chow, who played The Monkey King in the two previous instalments will not be reprising his role.
The production reportedly is already in preparation, and will begin filming in August.
When asked to confirm the news, Karen’s assistant stated, “We had initial contact, but nothing has been confirmed.”
Meanwhile, Twins’ manager, Mani Fok, denied the involvement of Charlene Choi and Gillian Chung in the movie.
“A Chinese Odyssey” is a two-part Hong Kong fantasy-comedy which was loosely based on the Chinese classical novel, “Journey to the West”.
It originally stars Stephen Chow, Ng Man Tat, Yammie Lam, Karen Mok, Athena Chu, and Law Kar Ying.
