Malaysians will soon be introduced to a new public transport service called Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) this coming May.

According to PaulTan website, the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) has collaborated with Prasarana Malaysia Berhad and the Sunway Group through the Public Private Partnership programme (PPP) to produce 15 electric buses.

The main aim for this transportation system is to reduce traffic congestions, improve time management and also provide seamless connectivity for commuters.

This eco-friendly transportation system is expected to stop at seven different stations including Station Sunway, Setia Jaya, Mentari, Sunway Lagoon, SunMed, SunU-Monash, South Quay, and finally USJ7.

“It is expected to benefit about half-a-million people in Sunway and Subang and will provide seamless connectivity to the Setia Jaya KTM and USJ 7 LRT stations nearby,” said Tan Sri Ismail Adam, chairman of Prasarana Malaysia Bhd.

He added that the new electric bus system will provide connectivity to at least 30,000 students around the area and estimated to transport 2,400 passengers per hour.

The total cost of this collaboration project is RM634 million which 70% of it is funded by Prasarana.
