The last time Liverpool Football Club visited Kuala Lumpur, it was in 2011 as part of their pre-season tour where over 80,000 fans turned up.
This year, the Reds will once again return to the city for a friendly match against the Malaysian football team, Malaysia XI at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium on 24 July 2015.
Liverpool’s Chief Executive, Ian Ayre mentioned that the pre-season tour will be able to give their Malaysian supporters the opportunity to see the team close up even though they are living far away from Anfield.
“Pre-season is an important time for the team as they prepare for the upcoming season and the match against Malaysian XI is an exciting part of that preparation,” he added.
According to the Malay Mail, Football Association of Malaysia General Secretary Datuk Hamidin Haji Mohd Amin said that he is indeed honoured to host the Liverpool FC once again.

Apart from the friendly match, the whole Liverpool FC Foundation including the staff and coaches are said to be “carrying out work for the community” throughout the visit, as well as taking part in events with official supporters’ clubs.
Liverpool FC has also scheduled to have two other friendly matches against the Australian A-League clubs as part of their pre-season tour too before their visit to Malaysia.
