Jason Derulo is the first ever singer to premiere a music video – of his brand new single “Want to Want Me” – on the famous dating app, Tinder.
“I wanted to find a new unique way to launch my video. I know my fans are tapped into social networking so what better way to launch my video for ‘Want to Want Me’ than through one of the fastest rising social networking apps, Tinder. I see this app as the wave of the future. I know my fans will swipe right,” Derulo stated via a newsletter released by Warner Music Malaysia.
Voted as most played male artist in 2014, the 25-year-old singer breaks records as his song “Want Me to Want You” has become the biggest Top 40 US radio launch ever; it was added to 156 monitored pop stations.
“I still can’t believe this ride. I couldn’t walk two years ago and now I am breaking records,” he added.
Released in early March, with its music video premiered on Tinder and YouTube 2 days ago, the 80s-inspired pop song was produced by Grammy-nominated producer Ian Kirkpatrick and written by Kirkpatrick, Sam Martin, Lindy Robbins, Mitch Allan and Derulo himself.
To date, Derulo now has 10 platinum singles which include top hits such as “The Other Side,” “Talk Dirty” (feat. 2 Chainz), “Wiggle” (feat. Snoop Dogg), “Whatcha Say,” and “It Girl”.
