Malaysian-Australian singer and songwriter Guy Sebastian has been chosen to represent Australia at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest which will take place in Vienna, Austria this May.
Sebastian, 33 who is the first winner of “Australian Idol” back in 2003, will be the first Australian entrant to take part in the 60th edition of the prestigious ceremony which is held annually.
The decision was announced at the Sydney Opera House on Thursday and Sebastian will be performing along with 40 other performers at the Eurovision Song Contest.

According to ABC News, Sebastian said that he is “pumped” to be able to perform at the competition.
“It’s Eurovision, it’s huge and keeps growing here in Australia which is nice. It’s not every day you get to perform in front of that sort of audience – 200 million – beats the local RSL,” said the singer.

Though the Klang-born singer admitted that he hasn’t decide on what song to perform, he is considering singing a song from his latest album or maybe write a new one.
“I’m not sure about the song yet. That is still being worked out. I know that I can’t sing something that has been released prior to September, so it doesn’t leave me with a lot. Luckily enough I released my album in November … which narrows it down a little bit or I could write something in the next few days,” he said.
Sebastian also added, “I want it to represent us as a nation well but also just be fun or be emotional. Either super fun or like a big ballad or something that showcases my voice.”
The 60th Eurovision Song Contest will consist of two semi-finals which will take place on 19 and 21 May, and a final on 23 May 2015.
