As reported on Sina News, the awards, which is equivalent to Hollywood’s Golden Raspberry Awards (also known as Razzies), recently revealed that Guo Jingming’s hit movie, “Tiny Times III”, and Donnie Yen-starrer, “The Monkey King”, were among the movies contending for the prizes.
The organisers of the upcoming Golden Broom Awards have recently released the list of nominees for the worst films of 2014, and some of the biggest hits of last year seemed to have graced the major categories.
According to the founder, Cheng Qingsong, the nominees, which include categories such as Most Disappointing Screenwriter, Most Disappointing Actor and Actress, as well as Most Disappointing Director, have been selected via online votes, and will be announced at a ceremony held in Beijing on 13 March.
Since no celebrity has ever claimed the award since the awards’ establishment six years ago, Cheng hopes that the winners this year will show good sportsmanship and attend it for the first time.
“If they can take criticisms from the public, maybe they can become the best of the best in years to come,” said Cheng.
Among stars who are nominated this year are “Tiny Times III” star Yang Mi, Crystal Liu, Nicholas Tse, Angelababy, Donnie Yen, and author-turned-director Guo Jingming.
