Discovery Channel will premiere a documentary on the tragic AirAsia flight 8501 in a 60-minute special entitled “Flight 8501: Storm Disaster”.
The plane which carried 155 passengers and 7 crew members was lost in a storm after 40 minutes into its journey from Indonesia to Singapore on 28 December 2014.
The special programme was made in order to shed some light on the truth on the event by providing one of the most comprehensive explanations as to what had happened.
According to Bernama, Theresa Ong, senior vice president and general manager of Southeast Asia, Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific, said;
“Once again, Discovery is bringing viewers compelling stories that have strong local interest. These specials help provide insight into the tragedies and tell inspiring stories of bravery and the tenacity of the human spirit in the darkest of hours.”
The 60-minute special will be aired on Discovery Channel (Astro channel 551) on 12 April 2015 at 10pm (MY) and 8pm (SG). The special will also air across Asia Pacific and internationally, in more than 220 countries and territories.
“Flight 8501: Storm Disaster” will also examine the impact of the Earth’s changing climate on the aviation industry by comparing and contrasting the incident of AirAsia flight 8501 with other recent aviation tragedies such as Air France flight 447 and Malaysia Airlines flight 370.
