The film, directed by this year’s HKIFF’s Filmmaker in Focus, Sylvia Chang, tells the story of a painter (played by Isabella Leong) who reunites with her estranged brother years after leaving her hometown.
Isabella Leong’s comeback movie, “Murmurs of the Heart” (also known as “Nian Nian”), has been selected to open the 39th Hong Kong International Film Festival, according to Film Business Asia.
The film also stars Angelica Lee, Lawrence Ko, and Joseph Chang.
Meanwhile, Philip Yung’s “Port of Call” will be the closing film. The film, which is loosely based on a real case, stars Aaron Kwok as a cop investigating a murder.
Other Hong Kong films that will be making its premiere at the festival include “Two Thumbs Up”, starring Simon Yam and Francis Ng, as well as Fruit Chan’s documentary, “My City”.
The 39th Hong Kong International Film Festival will be running from 23 March to 6 April 2015.
