Actor Zhang Mo, son of director Zhang Guoli, has recently been sentenced to six months in prison and fined RMB5000 (approximately USD800).

As reported on Tencent Entertainment, the Chinese star appeared at the Beijing Haidian District People’s Court on 27 January, where his drug trial was held, and pleaded guilty of all charges, including harbouring three drug users twice between April to June 2014 at his residence in Beijing.

This is also the first public appearance for the actor since his arrest back in July. 70 people including relatives and members of the media attended the trial, though his father Zhang Guoli was nowhere to be seen.
Similar to Jaycee Chan’s case, Zhang’s sentence was reduced due to good behaviour and cooperation. In accordance to the Criminal Law, which states that the sentence’s duration begins at detention, Zhang, who was detained back on 29 July 2014, will be released presumably on 29 January 2015.
