As reported on ECNS News, on 7 January, the Heilongjiang authority revealed that the amount has been given to the five families, while more compensation from the local government is soon to come.
Jackie Chan was revealed to have donated RMB500,000 (approximately USD80,480) to the families of fire-fighters who were killed in northeast China’s warehouse inferno.
The five fire-fighters, all in their late teens and early 20s, were buried by debris in their attempt to put out the fire in a warehouse at the Beifang Nanxun ceramic market in Heilongjiang’s Harbin on 2 January.
14 others were injured, with three of them in a critical condition.
A memorial service will be held today.
