Hong Kong director Wong Kar Wai has recently been honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 45th Film Festival of India.

According to Mingpao News, the director, who attended the event held in Goa alongside “The Grandmaster” stars Tony Leung and Zhang Ziyi, expressed his gratitude for the honour given for his contribution in the cinematic world.

In his acceptance speech, Wong said, “Indian audiences are very friendly and have affection for films. I am grateful to be given this honour.”
“Though many might think that this award may have come too early, I think it is great. It encourages hope that there will be more Sino-Indian film collaboration in future, and for more communication and interaction between the two countries,” he added.
The director also thanked his wife, saying that she is the ‘biggest achievement’ in his life.
Wong’s film “The Grandmaster” also served as the festival’s closing film.
