As reported on Mingpao news, the two stars won the awards for their upcoming film, “Sara”, which tells the story a woman whose dark past resurfaced to haunt her after encountering an underage prostitute in Thailand.
Hong Kong actors Simon Yam and Charlene Choi were recently honoured Best Actor and Actress at the 6th Macau International Movie Festival.
Delighted with the honour, Charlene, who plays the titular character, stated, “I am happy to win this award alongside Simon. These are the first awards for the film.”
“I want to thank the producer and director Herman Yau for casting me in a completely different film than what I was used to. It was a breakthrough for me, as well as a challenge.”
Simon was also full of praises for Charlene, saying that the Hong Kong film industry is in need of more talented stars like the actress.
Meanwhile, other winners include Zhang Yimou, who won Outstanding Contribution Award for his directorial effort in “Coming Home”, and Candy Chang, who won Best Newcomer Award for her role in the same film.
“Sara” is scheduled for release in February 2015.
