Congratulations to Kuala Lumpur for being voted one of the seven wonderful and magnificent cities in the world!
The voting of the New7Wonders Cities took place at Dubai through an international voting system from a long list of 1,200 nominees from 220 countries.
The other cities that made it on the list are La Paz (Bolivia), Havana (Cuba), Beirut (Lebanon), Doha (Qatar), Vigan (Philippines) and Durban (South Africa).
According to The Rakyat Post, the campaign was launched two years ago where New7Wonders Cities is the third global vote after the New7Wonders of the World and New7Wonders of Nature campaigns.
Bernard Weber, President of New7Wonders, said, “For the first time, more than half of our planet’s population live in cities and this election emphasises the dramatically challenging character of our changing world.”
“We congratulate each of these cities on achieving their New7Wonders status and look forward to celebrating their election to the ‘canon of 7′ with their citizens in 2015,” he added.
