According to Mingpao News, the actor-turned-philanthropist, who held the anniversary fundraiser event at the Grand Hyatt in Harbour Road, Hong Kong, stated that it has been ten years since the tsunami that hit the Indian Ocean prompted the establishment of One Foundation in Hong Kong.
Jet Li’s One Foundation charity organisation last night held its 10th Anniversary fundraiser, “One For Love”, in Hong Kong, attended by various celebrities such as Andy Lau, Carina Lau, Sean Lau, Wong Jing, and Johnnie To.
“But since then, the organisation has yet to engage any activities in Hong Kong. So we decided to hold a fundraiser night in celebration of our tenth anniversary here,” said Jet.
The actor also revealed that there have been more than 100 million people who participated in the donations over the years.
Beaming, he added, “Everybody participated like I hoped they would, not just the wealthy, but every single citizen fulfilled their obligation.”
However, Jet said that he has not set any goals for the night’s fundraiser.
Meanwhile, Carina Lau, who attended sans husband Tony Leung, stated that she will bid for the paintings in the charity auction.
