Celebrity friends and fans of Anita Mui expressed their love and respect for the late Hong Kong diva on the 11th anniversary of her passing on 30 December.

According to Mingpao News, Denise Ho, Anita’s protégé, wrote a long post on Facebook in remembrance of the singer, saying, “She left us 11 years ago, but before leaving, reminded us what one should adhere to and what one should never give up. To this day, I have not forgotten her teachings.”

Another one of Anita’s students, Grasshopper member Calvin Choi, also expressed, “I miss the old days. I wish you all the best, teacher!”
Meanwhile, good friend Eric Tsang, who is currently in Japan, left a message, “I remember the first time you took me away from Hong Kong to go to your favourite place in Japan. It was an eye-opener. Today I am here with my family.”
Meanwhile, the members of Anita Mui’s fan club went to the Po Lin Monastery on Lantau Island, where her ashes were interred, for worship. They also send various offerings, including flowers, snacks, and letters.
Fans also arranged flowers at her bronze statue on the Avenue of Stars, to express their love for the singer.
Anita passed away on 30 December 2003 after losing her battle with cervical cancer, and died of respiratory complications leading to lung failure at Hong Kong Sanatorium and Hospital.
She was 40.
