As reported on CRI News, the upcoming movie will be co-produced by China’s Bona Film Group and Jeff Robinov’s newly established company, Studio 8.
It was revealed that the Alan Mak and Felix Chong hit 2009 movie, “Overheard”, will be getting its Hollywood remake.
Robinov was the former head of Warner Brothers when the studio produced the remake of another Alan Mak and Felix Chong’s successful cop versus triad script, “Infernal Affairs”, turning it into the Oscar-winning Martin Scorsese movie, “The Departed”.
Bona’s own Jeffrey Chan stated that the two studios are currently looking for a screenwriter that can turn their vision for the project into a solid screenplay.
“Overheard”, starring Sean Lau, Louis Koo, and Daniel Wu, tells the story of a trio of police officers who conducts a secret surveillance on a public company, only to find out that there is a more complex web of crime that also involves police corruption.
The success of the movie led to the release of two more instalments in 2011 and 2014.
