Badminton number one champ, Lee Chong Wei has been temporarily suspended due to “an Adverse analytical finding” of a sample taken at the BWF World Championships in August, according to the Badminton World Federation (BWF) press statement that was released yesterday.
Lee, 32 was tested positive for the banned drug, dexamethasone last Saturday on his second testing, and has to face a two-year ban if he is found guilty, “The BWF has referred the matter to the BWF Doping Hearing Panel and, in due course, the head of the panel will set the time, date and location of a hearing.”
“The panel will determine whether or not the athlete has committed an anti-doping regulation violation,” the statement reads as published on NDTV Sports.
If Chong Wei’s appeal fails, the athlete would also lose the silver medal he won at the World Championships in Copenhagen back in August as well as the two bronze medals he had won at the Asian Games in last September.
