Stars of the latest martial arts movie “Kung Fu Jungle” expressed their happiness after hearing that it has triumphed over other movies in cinemas.

According to Oriental Daily, the movie, which opened on 30 October, was able to crush other competitions, including Daniel Radcliffe’s “Horns” and Ronald Cheng’s “The Seventh Lie”, to earn an impressive opening record of HKD 870,035 (approximately USD 112,186).

Expressing his delight with the success, director Teddy Chan thanked Donnie Yen and said, “It wasn’t easy to find a new path for kung fu films, and I hope that the movie will be able to pique foreigners’ interest in Chinese martial arts.”
Lead actress Charlie Yeung, who also attended the premiere in Beijing recently, enthused, “I am very happy. I am confident that people who love martial arts films will love it.”
Wang Baoqiang also expressed his hopes that the movie’s success in Hong Kong will be repeated in other countries too.
Meanwhile, when asked to express his thoughts on the movie’s success, Donnie Yen replied, “The most important thing is that the audience loved it!”
