Chopstick Brothers, the internet sensation from China, has recently won the International Song Award at the 2014 American Music Awards for their viral hit, “Little Apple”.

According to ECNS News, the duo, Xiao Yang and Wang Taili, also attended the gala to perform the song, which has been viewed more than a billion times on China’s popular video websites, including Youku Tudou.

Said Lu Faxi, the deputy director of the abovementioned video website, “This is the first time a Chinese pop duo performed and won an award at an established international music award.”
“Little Apple is China’s own “Gangnam Style” and we will expand its popularity to the global stage.”
In addition to the viral song, Lu revealed that they have worked with K-pop idol group T-ARA for the song’s remake, and a movie titled “Little Apple” has been planned for next year.
Though “Little Apple” is their first international hit, the Chopsticks Brothers has been around since 2007.
They had released an online film, “Old Boy”, and performed the titular song, and released another movie and song, both named “Father”, in 2011, which have also turned viral in mainland China.
