According to its group CEO, Tony Fernandes, AirAsia X might soon be resuming its Kuala Lumpur to London route.
Fernandes posted on his Twitter account a series of tweets announcing the high possibility of the axed route’s return. He even asked his followers to tell him why they love AirAsia X and the winner will “get one free ticket to our inaugural flight from KL to London and back”.
The AirAsia X route from KL to London was introduced in 2009 but was axed in March 2012, with the company citing high fuel prices as one of the reasons for cancelling the service.
However, The Rakyat Post reports that according to AirAsia X CEO Azran Osman Rani, even if the deal gets sealed soon, there still won’t be any flights to London by next year as there are no planes ready for the soon-to-be-revived route yet. The company has ordered 50 A330-900neo aircrafts in July, with deliveries staring in 2017.
The low-cost airline is also eyeing a flight route to Hawaii. Get ready to learn how to say more than just “Aloha!”, AirAsia X is about to make all your foreign language learning worth your tongue-twisting time.
