John Woo’s highly anticipated epic movie, “The Crossing”, has been selected for a special gala screening at the Singapore International Film Festival.

As reported on CRI News, the movie, starring Zhang Ziyi, Takeshi Kaneshiro, and Song Hye-gyo, is a tragic love story involving several couples on board of the Taiping steamer, which sunk in 1949, killing over 1500 passengers and crew.

The revived film festival will also feature Ken Kwek’s black comedy “Unlucky Plaza” as the opening film, while Indonesian director Lucky Kuswandi’s effort “In the Absence of the Sun” will be closing the festival.
“The Crossing” will open in cinemas on 5 December.
The 25th Singapore International Film Festival will be held from 4 to 14 December 2014.
