Five weeks ago Apple launched the iPhone 6 along with the Apple Watch and iPhone 6 Plus. Now Apple brings you the new iPad Air 2 and the iPad Mini 3. Here’s our quick summary of the new gadgets that may help you decide at a glance if you should get them!

iPad Air 2 : Summary


Thinner and Lighter
According to Apple press release, iPad Air 2 is by far the thinnest iPad Apple has ever released with a thickness of 6.1 mm (compared to iPad Air 1’s 7.5mm). It weighs less than a pound at 440 grams.


The camera is up from 5MP to 8MP for the iPad Air 2 and offers Panorama, Burst Mode and TimeLapse shooting.

Anti-reflection coating
The iPad Air 2 features an improved version of Retina display that can get clearer, sharper and brighter photos and videos with an anti-reflective screen that cuts off glare by 48%.

Touch ID function
What’s new is that the iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 offer the Touch ID function (available from iPhone 5s onwards) that enables users to unlock their iPad and easily make purchases within apps using Apple Pay with just the touch of their fingerprint.


The two new iPads will be available in three different colours; gold, silver and space gray.

Gathers motion data from the accelerometer, gyroscope, compass and an all-new barometer which senses air pressure to provide relative elevation.

5. iSight 
Captures rich, detailed images and add new features including panoramic in Photos, time-lapse video, slo-mo and 1080p HD video.

6. FaceTime HD cameras
Captures over 80 percent more light than iPad Air’s camera, and features burst mode as well as HDR stills and video.

7. 802.11ac Wi-Fi with Multiple-In-Multiple-Out (MIMO) technology
2.8 times the Wi-Fi performance of iPad Air at data rates up to 866 Mbps.

8. Faster cellular connections
Wi-Fi + Cellular integrates even more LTE bands and comes with expanded LTE for up to 50 percent.

9. Touch ID
Secure way to unlock iPad and protect logins and data better.

iPad Mini 3 : Summary


Touch ID function
Like the iPad Air 2, the iPad Mini 3 has also gotten the Touch ID upgrade.

There are now three different colours for the iPad Mini 3; gold, silver and space gray.

The sad bit about the iPad Mini 3 is that there are no other upgrades apart from the two mentioned above.


The price of iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 are as follows :-
