Peter Jackson, who has made a personal fortune from directing, producing and writing some of the biggest Hollywood films, namely “Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit”, is involved in the search for the missing Malaysian Airlines flight MH370.
A spokesman for Jackson confirmed today that the plane had been chartered and was being operated out of Perth.
Jackson, who is worth over $510 million, declined to say how much is being spent on the Gulfstream G650 alone, as it has been personally approved by Jackson to be donated to the search operation.
Makers of the Gulfstream G650 claim it is “the most technologically advanced business aircraft in the sky”, which can reach speeds of Mach 0.925 on short distances and can fly non-stop for 7,000 nautical miles (12,964 km).
