The guild’s award show, considered a leading indicator of Oscar gold, has recently uncovered Academy Award nominees take home several top honors, including coveted trophies at the Golden Globes just last Sunday.
The top winners for the 20th Screen Actors Guild Awards include actors of “12 Years a Slave”, “Dallas Buyers Club” and “American Hustle”.
Winning Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor at the recent SAG Awards, Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto won for their performances in “Dallas Buyers Club.”
McConaughey picked up the honor for lead actor for his role in the drama as a homophobic engineer who discovers he has AIDS, and Leto won for supporting male actor as a transgender woman dying of the disease.
Their win in both the SAG Awards and the Golden Globes has made them absolute shoe-ins for the upcoming Academy Awards this February.

Cate Blanchett won the trophy for lead female actor in a film for “Blue Jasmine,” playing a mentally troubled widow. This also repeated her win from the Golden Globes last week, and she’ll be the one to watchh for the Best Actress category for the Oscars.
Also expected to scoop up a win at the Oscars, new actress Lupita Nyong’o of “12 Years a Slave” won herself a Best Supporting Actress trophy, along with a Critics Choice Award. But since her contender and fellow nominee Jennifer Lawrence beat her in the Golden Globes, only time will tell who will win in the category at this years’ Academy Awards.

For the television category, however, “Breaking Bad” won awards for outstanding dramatic cast and for lead actor Bryan Cranston.
“What a way to go out in style!” Cranston said, accepting the ensemble’s award. He then playfully jokes around with his cast-members, “I swear to you I would kill you all over again.”
