As one of Malaysians’ favourite past-time, shopping is about to get even more tempting with seven new malls that are set to open this year in the Klang Valley! Not only that, several other malls will also be getting a makeover that will make paying it a visit, that much sweeter!
Announced with the launch of Visit Malaysia Year 2014 over the weekend, here are the new malls and refurbished ones that will be coming up this year:
Persiaran Kenanga, Kota Damansara
The Strand mall is built with cascading water features and a lush landscaped tropical setting. Located at the centre of the entire The Strand development, there is also an al-fresco dining boulevard at the side of the mall with a retractable roof. It will encompass The Red Carpet Avenue, a covered boulevard with fully integrated event facilities poised to host a hive of activities when the shopping mall opens. It’s anchor tenants are TGV Cinemas and grocer Urban Fresh as well as Modesto’s, Muzeum, Gourmandis, and Saint’s.
Persiaran Multimedia, Cyberjaya
D’Pulze Cyberjaya is set to become the first lifestyle and commercially integrated development in Cyberjaya. The signature highlight of D’Pulze is its entertainment hub (which Cyberjaya currently lacks) that will feature restaurants, fast food outlets, pubs, a multi-screen TGV cineplex, a karaoke box, health fitness and a spa centre.
Nu Sentral (formerly Lot G, KL Sentral) KL Sentral, Jalan Tun Sambathan, KL
Kuala Lumpur’s first integrated ‘green’ lifestyle mall is located next to Malaysia’s largest transit hub-Stesen Sentral Kuala Lumpur and is claimed to be 3 times bigger than Mid Valley Megamall. Among its main tenants are Golden Screen Cinemas and Parkson. It will also feature a rooftop entertainment concept which consists of a sky park, cafes and space for open air events and concerts.
Main Place (formerly Taipan Square) USJ 21, Subang Jaya
Formerly known as Taipan Square before it was taken over for renovations, Main Place will be three and a half stories. Amongst its tenants would be; Jaya Grocer, Dragon-i, Apple Machines, McDonalds, Starbucks, a cinema and a children’s playground, Molly Fantasy.
Jaya Shopping Centre (reconstructed)
Section 14, Petaling Jaya
Jaya Shopping Centre will feature a mix of retail outlets spread out over seven floors. This will include a TGV cineplex and other basic mall amenities. It will also be almost double the size it was before. The most outstanding feature of Jaya Shopping Centre is the prominent five levels of glass curtain wall facing the bustling Jalan Semangat.
Quill City Mall (formerly Vision City)
Jalan Sultan Ismail, Kuala Lumpur
This 6-storey shopping mall, encompasses a link bridge to the Medan Tuanku monorail station.
It has 3 anchor tenants; a department store (occupying 4 levels), a cineplex and a supermarket.
Sunway Pyramid (Phase 3)
Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall, Bandar Sunway
A RM340 million addition that entails the development of a 27-storey integrated four-star hotel and retail component, which consists a 19-storey hotel tower with 401 rooms and three-storey retail complex with 70,000 square feet of rentable retail space to the already existing mall and hotel.
Jalan Puchong Perdana 2, Millennia City, Puchong
This six-storey shopping mall is part of Puchong’s Millennia City commercial development which will also be linked to the Hilton Garden Inn. Apart from all the usual mall amenities, it will also encompass a cineplex.
Atria Shopping Gallery (renovated)
The mall has undergone heavy renovations and will see to a four-storey Podium Shopping Mall which will also include two 16-storey small office flexi office (SOFO) suite towers as well as a cineplex.
Sunway Velocity Lifestyle Mall
Along Jalan Peel and Jalan Cheras Kuala Lumpur
Sunway Velocity is a mixed development that will boast one million square feet of retail space a stone’s throw away from the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
Sunway Putra Mall (formerly The Mall)
Overlooking the international Putra World Trade Centre, the mall has six levels. It will boast several sections; Entertainment (cinema, karaoke, amusement centre), Asian Avenue (Food court, IT, F&B), Family Connection (Fashion, Specialty store, F&B), Urban Trend (Regional fashion, F&B), International & Contemporary Couture (International fashion and F&B) and a Gourmet Emporium (Marketplace, General stores and F&B).
PIKOM ICT Mall CapSquare (refurbished)

The relaunch of CapSquare will now see a full IT mall owned by PIKOM (Association of the Computer and Multimedia Industry, Malaysia). It offers a complete range of ICT products and customers can expect the best deals and bargains for all their technological needs.
