Singapore and Myanmar reveal national costumes for Miss Universe 2017


Miss Universe Singapore and Miss Universe Myanmar have revealed the national costume that they will be wearing at Miss Universe international pageant in Las Vegas on 26 November 2017.

Singapore’s beauty queen Manuela Bruntraeger will be wearing an architectural costume inspired by the Supertrees at Gardens by the Bay, The New Paper reports.

Designed by Moe Kasim, the costume is minimalistic featuring a two-piece emerald green bralette and matching hipster panties worn over flesh-coloured tights.

The costume also features 25 meters of LED lights wrapped around the Supertrees structure, which fans out via a backpack, and some Singapore orchids decorating the body and making up the headpiece.

Meanwhile, Miss Universe Myanmar Zun Than Sin is set for a winning streak with her national costume that is based on Myanmar’s traditional orchestra, Hsaing Waing.

The elaborated costume features a replica of Pat Waing, wrapped and drawn by Miss Myanmar, and then the folded brass drums, big drums and Pyin Sa Rupa will be displayed by unfolding.

Performing as Hsaing Saya (maestro), Zun will wear a dress inspired by the Kanboung Dynasty actresses, where the ornaments are made up of Myanmar traditional gold embroidery and is also decorated with gold.

Other Southeast Asian countries that have revealed their national costumes include Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand.
