Linkin Park’s frontman Chester Bennington dies by suicide

The world is shaken by the news of Chester Bennington’s passing on 20 July 2017. He was 41.

Bennington who was best known as the frontman of rock band Linkin Park, was found dead in his home near Los Angeles, and was suspected of an apparent suicide by hanging.

Bennington was married with 6 children from 2 wives. For years, the singer struggled with drugs and alcohol, and used to confess that he had been abused as a child by an older male, TMZ reports.

The passing comes just days before Linkin Park was set to launch their “One More Light” world tour with special guests Machine Gun Kelly, One OK Rock and Snoop Dogg.

Coincidentally, Bennington died on what would have been Chris Cornell's 53rd birthday.

Cornell who was the lead vocalist of Soundgarden and Audioslave, was a close friend of Bennington, and he too committed suicide by hanging two months prior.

When the news of Cornell’s death broke out, Bennington shared a heartfelt open letter to Cornell on his social media.

Plenty of celebrities paid their tribute to Bennington on social media; some of them include Avril Lavigne, Jimmy Kimmel, One Republic, Imagine Dragons, and Josh Groban among others.

Rapper and co-founder of Linkin Park, Mike Shinoda also tweeted, “Shocked and heartbroken, but it's true. An official statement will come out as soon as we have one.”

On the morning of Bennington’s death, Linkin Park released the music video for their latest single “Talking to Myself”, the third track off the band’s seventh studio album “One More Light.”

The band also posted a picture of Bennington with no caption, surrounded by a sea of fans during one of the band’s performances.

The picture looks so majestic with fans holding up their lit-up phones towards Bennington, forming a sea of beautiful lights.

Linkin Park rose to international fame with their debut album “Hybrid Theory” in 2000. The band is known for many of their hits like “Crawling”, “In the End”, “Numb”, “Somewhere I Belong”, “What I've Done”, and more.

The band has sold over 70 million albums worldwide and has won two Grammy Awards.

Their latest album marked their sixth No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart.
