Events Not To Be Missed: August 2017


Get ready for August, guys, ‘cos we got a whole lot of event this month waiting for you!

From mainstream singers, to indie rockers and renowned festivals, the events lined-up for August vary, so check em’ all out below!

1. Oh Wonder in Thailand (1 August 2017)

London alt-pop indie duo Oh Wonder – consisting of Josephine Vander Gucht and Anthony West – is coming to Bangkok, Thailand for the first time ever to promote their second full-length studio album, “Ultralife”

Venue: DND Club, Bangkok

2. LANY in Thailand and Singapore (2 and 10 August 2017)

Coming to three festivals in Southeast Asia this August, three-piece alternative pop band LANY will also make their debut in Singapore and Thailand.

Venue: DND Club (Bangkok), SCAPE The Ground Theatre (Singapore)

3. History Con in Malaysia and Philippines (4 – 6 and 10 – 13 August 2017)

HISTORY Con, an entertainment convention that took Manila by storm last year is returning and also expanding to Malaysia. International celebrities from HISTORY, LIFETIME and FYI hit series will be present to further ignite the star-studded event.

Venue: MAEPS Serdang (Selangor), World Trade Centre (Manila)

4. K-Wave Music Festival in Malaysia (5 August 2017)

BtoB, Apink, Highlight, Teentop, Victon, and B1A4 are coming to Malaysia for an an all new music festival presented by operator company Mcalls.

Venue: Surf Beach, Sunway Lagoon

5. Konsert Nova Malaysia (5 August 2017)

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the virtuous friendship between Malaysia and Indonesia, a special one-night-only mega concert will be held to bring fans the ultimate concert experience with artistes from Malaysia and Indonesia

Venue: Stadium Malawati, Shah Alam

6. PlayStation Experience in Malaysia (5 August 2017)

For the first time ever, PlayStation Experience, also known as PSX, an annual event for the video game industry presented by Sony Interactive Entertainment, will be coming to Southeast Asia for the first time in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

7. Sheila Majid in Malaysia (5 August 2017)

Twenty six years has passed since Malaysia’s queen of jazz music, Dato’ Sheila Majid performed her first solo concert, “Konsert Lagenda” at Stadium Negara, and now she is set to perform at the venue for the second time for her first major solo concert in seven years to commemorate her latest 10-track album, “Boneka”.

8. DNCE in Malaysia, Bangkok and Singapore (16 July 2017)

Joe Jonas-fronted dance rock outfit DNCE known for “Cake by the Ocean” and “Toothbrush” is set to bring their 2017 tour to Southeast Asia for the first time.

Venue: KL Live (Malaysia), GMM Live House (Bangkok), Suntec Convention Centre (Singapore)

9. Seungri in Malaysia (11 August 2017)

Seungri from Korea’s top boy band, BIGBANG, will be coming to Kuala Lumpur in August to launch the first YG Republique in Malaysia.

Venue: TREC, Kuala Lumpur

10. We The Fest Indonesia (27 July 2017)

French rock outfit and headliner Phoenix, Grammy-winning singer Daya, Californian rapper G-Eazy, English songstress Dua Lipa, and Malaysia’s sweetheart Yun, will be gracing the stage at We The Fest.

Venue: Parkir Timur Senayan, Jakarta

11. Good Vibes Festival Malaysia (12 – 13 August 2017)

Hitting its fifth year, the annual music festival which always gives off good vibes, and is literally called Good Vibes Festival – returns with more amazing acts like G-Eazy, Dua Lipa, The Kooks, Phoenix, Kodaline, Lido, Gryffin, Gnash, and others.

Venue: The Ranch @ Gohtong Jaya in Genting Highlands

12. Day6 in Thailand and Indonesia (13 and 26 August 2017)

South Korean rock band Day6 of JYP Entertainment – the same management company to other famous K-pop stars like 2AM, 2PM, GOT7, and Miss A – will be making stops in several Southeast Asian cities including Bangkok and Jakarta for their “DAY6 Live & Meet 2017” tour.

Venue: GMM Live House (Bangkok), Balai Sarbini (Jakarta)

13. Bastille in Singapore (14 August 2017)

Marking their third visit, British indie pop band Bastille returns to Singapore for their second headlining concert to promote their sophomore album, “Wild World”.

Venue: The Star Theatre, Singapore

14. Liam Gallagher in Philippines (14 August 2017)

Rock icon Liam Gallagher, the former frontman of rock band Oasis and Beady Eye is set to play his first solo show in Southeast Asia.

Venue: SM Mall of Asia Arena, Manila

15. All Time Low in Singapore and Philippines (17 and 22 August 2017)

American pop punk band All Time Low is set to hit Southeast Asia for their “Young Renegades Tour to support their latest and seventh title-track “Last Young Renegade”.

Venue: The Coliseum (Singapore), Mall of Asia Arena (Manila)

16. Monster Jam Singapore (19 August 2017)

Get ready for some exciting high-octane performance as Monster Jam, an action-packed live motorsports tour featuring monster trucks will be smashing into Singapore for the first time ever!

Venue: National Stadium, Singapore

17. Ariana Grande in Philippines (21 August 2017)

Petite pop star Ariana Grande has announced Philippines to be one of the Southeast Asia countries included in her “Dangerous Woman Tour”.

Venue: Mall of Asia Arena, Manila

18. Richie Kotzen in Singapore (21 August 2017)

Guitarist, singer, songwriter and producer Richie Kotzen is set to make his Singapore debut with his “Salting Earth” World Tour, in support of his 22nd album of the same name.

Venue: Annexe Studio, Esplanade

19. Foo Fighters in Bangkok and Singapore (24 and 26 August 2017)

Rock legends Foo Fighters are coming to Bangkok and Singapore for the first time in 20 years.

Venue: Challenger Hall Arena,(Bangkok), National Stadium (Singapore)

20. DJ MaRLo in Malaysia (12 – 13 August 2017)

Dutch-born, Australian-raised trance DJ MaRLo who is no stranger in Malaysia will be visiting the country for the umpteenth time, bringing his “Altitude 2017” tour.

Venue: KL Live, Kuala Lumpur

21. Shila Amzah in Malaysia (12 – 13 August 2017)

Malaysia’s pop princess Shila Amzah is finally kicking off her “My Journey” Tour 2017 in her home country to support her sixth studio album and debut Chinese-language studio album of the same name, “My Journey” (心旅).

Venue: Arena of Stars, Genting Highland
