For real? There's an “Archie” TV series?

Think Archie and you'll think of all your favourite teen comic characters in the catchy and fun “Sugar, Sugar” music video, amirite?

But hey, that fun-loving Archie and gang you once knew are no more!

Say bye bye to the comic and animated version of Archie and the gang...
Say hello to your new millennial Archie Andrews.
A new live-action TV series by The CW (the same network that brought you "The Vampire Diaries", "Arrow", "The Flash", "Supergirl" and more) is set to deliver a darker spin on your childhood "Archie" come 2017.

Instead of "Archie", the show will be called "Riverdale", and yup as per the comics it's the exact Riverdale where Archie and the gang call home!

Since this won't be an animated series, the real-life cast will be made up of K.J. Apa as Archie Andrews, Cole Sprouse as Jughead Jones, Lili Reinhart as Betty Cooper, Camila Mendes as Veronica Lodge, Madelaine Petsch as Cheryl Blossom, Ashleigh Murray as Josie McCoy, Luke Perry as Fred Andrews, and Casey Cott as Kevin Kellar.

OK, let us just take a quick pause here to tell you that Jughead is played by another one of your childhood idols; Cole Sprouse, yes, THAT Sprouse twin from Disney's "The Sweet Life of Zack and Cody"!

Meet Archie, Veronica, Jughead and Betty.
Best friends Archie (K.J. Apa) and Jughead (Cole Sprouse).
As for the story, the modern "Twin Peaks" inspired take is narrated by Jughead and will not see Archie chasing the skirts of Betty and Veronica (or will he?), but will see the millennial Riverdale High gang reeling after a death of one of their own. Also, Archie is said to be a character who had just recently ended a 'forbidden relationship' with his high school music teacher, Ms. Grundy, Veronica might be a bisexual and Betty's got a drug problem.

Whoa, where were all of these parts in the comics?!

If you are lucky enough to attend the San Diego Comic Con happening this weekend in the U.S.A. then we heard that the pilot episode will be screened for lucky fans!

But... if you're stuck in Asia like the rest of us are, then at least you have this exclusive Comic Con poster of the series to feast your eyes upon!
