Update: Matthew Perry won't be there for FRIENDS reunion

UPDATED, 15 January 2016: Unfortunately, Chandler Bing AKA Matthew Perry couldn't make it to the reunion as he will be in London rehearsing for his play, "The End of Longing", NBC reports.

"Matthew will not be attending as he is in London in rehearsals for his play, The End of Longing, which begins previews on February 2 at the playhouse Theatre. NBC executives were aware of this prior to their TCA announcement yesterday," said Lisa Kasteler as quoted.

Everybody's favourite group of friends is getting back together. 12 years after wrapping up the set, Chandler, Joey, Ross, Rachel, Monica and Phoebe will be revived to honour director James Burrows.

NBC head Bob Greeblatt confirmed the news at the Television Critics Association Press Tour on Wednesday as reported by E! News.

The reunion is for a two-hour special that pays tribute to veteran sitcom director James Burrows, who recently helmed his 1,000th TV episode. He directed 15 "Friends" episodes.

Burrows is a highly acclaimed sitcom director and has been active for 40 years. Apart from "Friends", he had also directed "Mike & Molly", "Gary Unmarried", "Will & Grace" and "Cheers".

The TV-event will also reunite the casts from Burrows other series, including “Taxi”, “Cheers”, “Frasier”, “Will & Grace”, “The Big Bang Theory” and “Mike & Molly”.

Unfortunately, Greenblatt mentioned that there is a chance it won't be possible to gather the six actors in the same room. “I’m not sure we can logistically pull that off,” said Greenblatt.

Fans of the award winning show have been waiting on the edge of their seats for a reunion after many rumours that spread on the internet.

"Friends" recently regained its popularity after Netflix made it available to stream the show.
