Liverpool’s Jermaine Pennant set for Tampines Rovers
Former Arsenal and Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant is set to transfer to the Singapore football club, Tampines Rovers very soon, according to the club chairman, Krishna Ramachandra.
The English footballer will be coming to the country tomorrow, 7 January 2015, and will undergo a week-long training with the five-time S.League champions before signing, Channel News Asia reports.
“Pennant’s a pedigree football talent ... we were approached by his agent for him to try out at Tampines Rovers, we felt he was a good enough talent to warrant a trial with us,” said Krishna as quoted.
“In addition, we have always maintained that the foreigners we take on have to make a positive contribution to the other players' game and so it is important that foreign players who come along to the league must be looking at upping their game, too,” he added.
Pennant earned promising reviews when he first joined Arsenal in 1999, however he failed to find consistency to then establish himself in the club.
He also signed for Liverpool in 2006 where he won the 2006 FA Community Shield and also played in the 2007 Champions League final, but in 2009 he was not offered a new contract by Liverpool.
With Pennant getting ready to move to the Lion City, his beautiful and sexy model wife Alice Goodwin whom he got married to in May 2014, is expected to be coming along with him and this has saddened many of Goodwin fans.
