New iPhone? These are better ways to spend your money
Apple has finally revealed the features of the newly launched iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus today along with some other new Apple devices such as the new Apple TV, iPad Pro, Apple Pencil, Apple Watch Hermès Collection and more.
But the main focus is always on the brand’s highest-selling product which is the iPhone of course!
The new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus boasts plenty of new and improved features compared to the previous iPhone 6 and 6 Plus models which were launched last year.

Some of them include the 3D Touch feature which is able to recognise three levels of pressure, the new A9 chip which is the fastest ship ever built in a phone, the all-new iSight rear camera with 12-megapixel unit which can also take HD and 4k videos, LTE advanced and faster WiFi, and many other improved specs.
Of course with all these new features, the iPhones don’t come cheap.
iPhone 6s costs around USD649 and it is USD749 for the iPhone 6s Plus which means in Malaysian Ringgit, you would need at least RM3,500 to get your hands on it.
The phone will only be available in several countries including the U.S. on 24 September, while the pre-order starts on 12 September. It goes without saying that the phone is going to cost a lot more once it enters the Malaysian market if you include the shipping fees, tax, and other terms and conditions set by the telco companies.
So you might be spending more than RM4,000 on the phone alone. That’s a lot of money for a small piece of device that will be inevitably replaced with a newer model next year!
So if you’re over the fence about getting the new iPhone, here we’ve list out 6 other (possibly better) things that you can buy or do for the same price as the new iPhone.
1. Buy a good camera

For RM4,000, you can actually purchase a Canon EOS 70D Digital Camera which is priced between RM3,000 to RM5,000 depending on the specs that you choose to add on. Aside from the Canon camera, you can also get the Sony Digital SLT 24.3 Mega Pixel Camera or Nikon DSLR D7100 at almost the same price. With cameras like these that also have Wi-Fi connection, you’re sure to have way better photos on your Facebook or Instagram than any iPhone can deliver even though the phone now comes with an updated 12-megapixel camera!
2. Buy a fast-processing laptop

Why not get a good gaming laptop or ones with a faster processor, for example; Dell XPS 14 Ultrabook which super thin and light complete with i7 processor, with up to 8GB of DDR3 memory for only RM3,999. Other recommendations are; Sony Vaio EA16, Toshiba Satellite M645-1002X, Lenovo V460, Asus A42Ja, or Asus U43JC (Bamboo Edition).
3. Buy a Mooveur

The new motorised vehicle called Mooveur has become a trend with people posting all about it on social media, and it is not really that expensive. With RM4,000, you can actually own two of it! 4. Go on a dream-like vacation

You can go to a lot of cool places with RM4,000, but if you want to make it worthwhile and stick with that budget for a comfortable holiday, maybe you should travel somewhere around the Asian region like South Korea, Japan, Taiwan or Hong Kong. With that budget, you can spend a week of fun in these countries, but we also found that you can actually go all the way to Paris with an airfare of RM2,500+ if you’re willing to travel backpacker style!
5. Attend a really cool music festival
|(Phoro source: bnana.jp)|
There are quite a number of cool music festivals not only overseas but some massive ones right here in Asia, for example It’s The Ship or the new Shipsomnia which are both music festivals and a vacation in one package all on a cruise ship! To get the best of these festivals, you could purchase the best VIP cabin with prices that can amount up to RM1,000 and still have some leftover cash in the bank.
6. Buy a comfy good bed

If you just want to laze and not exert yourself with travelling and festivals, then this may not sound too weird for you, cause with a good bed you will have a good sleep, and a good sleep is essential for you to start your day on the right foot! And having a complete set of a proper bed including the frame, mattress, pillows, bolsters and blankets – is not cheap. Believe it or not all of them together can cost more RM4,000! Also, with a good bed to sleep every day, it will save you from spending more than RM100 at a spa or massage parlor for just one session.
