Malaysian animated series wins award in South Korea
A Malaysian animated series titled “Hogie the Globehopper” has won an award at Seoul Promotion Plan 2015 (SPP) – Asia’s largest international animation market event in South Korea.
The animated series which is produced by Kuala Lumpur-based production house Lil Critter Workshop won Best Planning Award which is one of top three honours at the event.
The other two awards are Best Creativity and Best Technology won by Korean Animation Studios, “Wolfdaddy of Now or Never” and “Loco Zoologica of Grafizix” respectively.
A total of 75 entries from 16 countries were submitted to the competition, and out of 20 SPP finalists, three were from Malaysia: “Pumpkin Reports” of Young Jump Animation, “Abu & Otak” of Ano Pica Studios and “Hogie the Globehopper” of Lil Critter Workshop, Animation Xpress reports.
“Hogie the Globehopper” follows a curious tree frog named Hogie who travels around the globe with his friends Bernie the Dragonfly and Lorna the Duck, on a hot air balloon as they meet new people and learn different culture all over the world.
The 11-minute x 52 episodes adventure comedy animated series is aimed at young audience aged 4 to 6 years old.
