South Korean guitarist Sungha Jung returns to Penang
Guitar lovers in Malaysia will surely be glad to know that South Korean acoustic musician Sungha Jung who specialises in acoustic guitars, will be heading to Malaysian shores by the end of this month!
Jung who has been nicknamed the "Guitar Prodigy" and the "August Rush" in Korea, has over 3 million subscribers on his YouTube channel, mesmerising music and guitar lovers from around the world with his artistic and unique guitar renditions of contemporary, jazz, broadway and classical tunes.
Many of his YouTube covers have been going viral on YouTube, having been viewed over 400 million times around the globe.
The 18-year-old musician first started playing guitar at the age of five, after watching his father play it. He then started to play the fingerstyle technique after watching his first guitarist idol Kotaro Oshio.
Jung’s technique started to improve after he watched and imitated a lot of veterans guitarists like Ulli Boegerhausen, Tommy Emmanuel and Andy McKee.
He started to gained attention from the world through his cover of "The Pirates of the Caribbean" theme song which currently has over 45 million views.
Since then, Jung has been going on worldwide sold-out tours, and performing alongside renowned music artistes including Jason Mraz, 2NE1, Tommy Emmanuel and YouTube stars Sam Tsui and Kurt Schneider.
This year, the sensational acoustic musician will come for his third year visit to Penang, Malaysia on 27 and 28 June 2015, at Wawasan Open University, Theatre 1, Penang.
