Disney’s “Tangled” is getting a TV series
Disney’s 3D animated princess movie, “Tangled” is getting a television series adaptation and will be hitting the small screens in 2017 on Disney Channel.
Also, it has been confirmed that Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi will reprise their roles as Rapunzel and Flynn Rider AKA Eugene Fitzherbert, respectively in the original series.
Not only that, Academy Award-winning composer Alan Menken and lyricist Glenn Slater who are responsible for the award-winning songs in the film, will be composing brand new songs for the series too!
“The series takes place in between the events of the feature film and the start of the utterly charming 2012 short film ‘Tangled Ever After’”, according to Disney’s official blog.
Aside from the two main characters, the upcoming television series will also feature Rapunzel’s chameleon sidekick Pascal, the dedicated palace horse Maximus, the thugs from the Snuggly Duckling pub and a new character named Cassandra who has been described as “a tough-as-nails handmaiden, who becomes Rapunzel’s confidant.”
This would not be the first time that Disney has turned its successful box office films into animated series. Other movies which also turned into TV series include “The Little Mermaid”, “Hercules”, “101 Dalmatians”, “Toy Story”, “Winnie the Pooh” and the long-running “Aladdin” with a total of 86 episodes.
Another upcoming series based on “The Lion King” titled “The Lion Guard” which focuses on Simba’s son, will premiere on the Disney Channel next year.
